Keeping His Own Zcounsel

[This article appeared in the Executive Edition section of the newspaper, Newsday, on May 1, 2000.] FRESH OUT OF THE home-welcoming industry, Joel Zychick has started anew in the business-advisory field. Since 1996, Zychick had served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the GETKO Group in Westbury, NY, which operates Getting to Know You and Welcome Wagon, fixtures in the home-welcoming industry. When the firm's owners, Cendant Corp., recently decided to consolidate its real-estate-related and Internet activities into a central company with offices in San Francisco and Parsippany, NJ, called Move.com, Zychick decided to branch out on his own. His newly-formed company, Zcounsel LLC, with offices in Bethpage, NY, advises high-technology and Internet-related companies. "We help them to organize their company properly and run it efficiently," said Zychick, who is a lawyer. "Furthermore, we assist them in presenting their company in the best possible light to investors." At present, he has five clients and reveals that he has about 15 in the pipeline. He says that the firm will probably represent five to six companies per year. |
